Another first is on the horizon for the Hill College Cross Country/Track program as it competes today in the Houston Invitational. It will be the school’s first-ever indoor meet.

The team will compete on the 200m-banked track inside the Yeoman Fieldhouse at the University of Houston amongst some of the top NCAA athletes in the country.

As the bulk of the track squad is building for the outdoor season, which starts in March, Hill College will run only a few athletes in two indoor meets.

Hill College long-distance runners Shea Johnson and Adrian Moreno will compete in the mile run, and teammate Cris Santana is entered in the 3,000m run.

NJCAA Cross Country All-American Jared Lautenslager will compete unattached and will be one of the favorites in the 3,000m run. Lautenslager only has one year of outdoor track eligibility remaining at the junior college level.

Hill College’s second indoor meet will be Feb. 10-11 at the Jarvis Scott Open at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
